Sentinels of the Helicon Path
For the Dine’ mountains were inhabited by the divine. Even though divinities live within the mountain, the sentinel or guardian of the mountain is the bear. Throughout history, mountains have been regarded as both dark and dangerous and as offering a path that leads one closer to the heavens. This ode to the bear and to the mountain acknowledges an always present duality.
