Revisioning Athena’s Shield
Athena, the strategist and guardian of Athens’ polis sprung, in full armor, from the head of her father, Zeus. Known as the goddess of reason, she was also known as the goddess of intelligent activity and as such was the benefactor of spinners, weavers, embroiderers and those who engaged in similar crafts.
